My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penny is fostered in Gainesville, Tx through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org.
Penny is a tiny little luv bug weighing in between 5 and 6 lbs. She has led an EXTREMELY sheltered life. Penny's life has been one that is quite sad. She lived the beginning of her life in a breeder hoarding situation. She was confiscated and ended up in a shelter as most do. She was later adopted by a loving man and woman. The man traveled 6mos out of the year and the woman was fighting for her life with cancer. Penny was her comfort and her life consisted of staying in bed with her mommy. Her mommy reached the point that cancer was winning the battle, so she surrendered her to UYR and came into our rescue and to me.

While being rescued from a breeder was a God send for Penny, living her life in the “care giving” role also stole her from life. During that time, Penny was again sheltered from the world outside. So, everything in Penny's life is new and a total introduction to life.

I adopted Penny to the most loving couple, that had adopted previously from me and the rescue. They had adopted a pair of Yorkie's and the female had died. We thought Penny was going to be the answer to their loss. In essence, it was too many changes for Penny. Although their heart was there, the changes were not meeting Penny's needs, and she was suffering because of it. She sat at the door and waited for me to return. She didn't bond with their Yorkie because what use to be a shy little guy had blossomed into this very playful bonsai, burst of energy that was precious to see, but too overwhelming for her. Penny was left alone while her new adopter worked. With her husband traveling too, Penny was left alone and not use to her owner being gone.

I had her 90% housebroken and she was still 90% housebroken, but when she had accident on the adopters bed, her adopter crated her at night. Being a mill dog, this crushed me. They changed her name, which is doable for some dogs, but for this little one no. As you can see, Penny had just too many changes.

In my household, I just let these babies come to me and let them work themselves into each other (the pack). All of my babies are very submissive, loving babies, so they give Penny her space and just let her come to them, and she does. She LOVES to sleep in the bed and be right there on your pillow or against your back. She is a cuddler. She wants to be with her human all the time and will follow you everywhere...there is no need to push it, this is just her. She has found that she loves squeaky toys too! She has no problem going up to any of the dogs and snatching them away lol. She is also an amazing eater!!! She has had 2 pee accidents in the house and none on my bed ever. She is the cutest little baby girl who just deserves someone who will make her their princess.

So honestly, the reason for her return was that she wasn't happy, and they knew she needed someone else. We feel it was because they were trying too hard to fix Penny, and she didn’t need fixing. She just needs her time to find "Penny". She loves everyone, men, women, dogs, cats, kids...you just have to let her come out. She is very timid at first, but her life she led kept her so sheltered. She jumps and jumps for you to pick her up but she cowers as you do that...that is typical mill dog syndrome...begs for love but probably was pushed back into a cage just to be a baby maker.

My ideal home for her is someone who is home, someone without other pets initially or maybe one very submissive quiet one...because she does like my 4 here. I’m looking for someone who will just love her, show her life, and allow her to see what it is about without pushing. Help her see life and not be fearful when outside or around strange things. She is also very frightened of thunderstorms. I put her comfort shirt on her, and I also give her acepromethazine and she settles right down (oh and she loves to get under the covers too or a blanket lol). She loves car rides, she does great on a leash (its not her favorite thing but I feel they are always safer with bird of prey around), she's just a little bit of nothing but so full of love. I definitely want someone who is going to let Penny come into herself and take the time to show her life because as a prior mill dog, this baby will be such an amazing little girl.

I hope I've touched base enough on who Penny is and what happened and what she needs. If you have any unanswered questions, feel free to email me again. If you think this maybe a match, please fill out the application. Please do not leave blanks, put zeros or NA if there is a question that does not apply as sometime our system thinks you are not through. Being out of state might be an issue but we can discuss this if you are the perfect home!!
