My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JADE is a 6-year-old spayed female yellow lab. Jade weighs 48 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

DESCRIPTION Jade was a stray at a suburban shelter, but nobody came looking for her. She is a sweet and snuggly girl who has excellent house manners. She was so shy when we got her, she would not come out of her crate and would shake when you tapped the spoon on her bowl to get the leftover food in the bowl. She is still pretty shy and she needs a patient family in a quiet home where there aren't a lot of visitors. She has never tried to run away or growl or snap when frightened- indoors, she just goes into her crate and outdoors she just stops next to her walker, unless it's really scary in which case she will change direction and pull on the leash to go home. (Normally she does not pull on the leash and is very polite.) Her recall has been great and she will stand by quietly when her walker has to use both hands to get her buddy, Ramsey, out of a fix. She was fine with cats and horses until Ramsey taught her to chase cats and squirrels and to bark at horses. Jade has gotten along with each dog she has met, although she does prefer slow, polite introductions and does not like crazy dogs invading her space. She seems to like toys, but just carries them around or hoards them in her crate. She is crate trained, but her door is always left open. Jade is fostered in a rural area but was originally fostered in a city where there were too many distractions for her to concentrate on doing her business on leash.

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home, townhome in a quiet area
Fencing: no requirement, but she won't go to the bathroom on a leash if there are a lot of people, cars or other distractions
