My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
Hello, my name is Chance! What were the chances that I would end up with Even Chance Rescue?! (pun intended)

How old are you?
I’m about 10 months old, still a young pupper!

What do you look like?
Some people say my distinguishing feature is my big block head. All the ladies love my big smile and floppy ears. I also have soft white fur with auburn spots and freckles. Dr. Johnson says I weigh 65 pounds.

What do you like to eat?
I think a better question is what do I not like to eat! I love my Nutro venison meal and sweet potato recipe because of the way it has helped my coat grow softer. I also really enjoy frozen kongs filled with peanut butter.

What kind of personality do you have?
I’m very much a lover and cuddle-bug. My foster parents say I have “puppy brain” so I need a little extra attention if I’m not in the same room as you. The world is an amazing place and all I want to do is sniff and lick the whole thing. I love making new friends and running around the yard. I’m still learning to walk on a leash but I’ve made a lot of progress. I even go for short runs with my foster mom!

Describe your perfect day:
That’s tough because every day seems perfect to me! I love going on walks and for rides in the car. My current humans have taken me to parks and festivals, and though I’m still a puppy and easily distracted, they think I do a good job at meeting new people and giving lots of kisses.

What is your favorite toy?
I play with my green rubber pig that I named Kevin Bacon and my Nyla wish bone!

Do you know any tricks?
I know sit and lay well. I am also working on stay and shake. Catch has been a little confusing. Why do my humans keep throwing the ball away and chase me when I don’t bring it back?!?!?! I am definitely food motivated so that makes learning new tricks easy.

What scares you?
I can’t say there is much that scares me. I’m a curious boy and love exploring the world around me.

Do you like cats?
I haven’t met any but they sound like fun.

Do you have any doggie best friends?
Unfortunately, I don’t have any other dogs in my foster home. I am still learning boundaries with other dogs, but I correct well when dogs tell me I am being too obnoxious.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
With a good family that feeds me and likes to play outside. Having a brother or sister would be nice because I like to play a lot.

How is your health?
I had kennel cough when my foster family got me from the shelter, but I am all better after getting medicine. Dr. Johnson neutered me at the beginning of August but I am healed now.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I live with my foster parents Alex and Bud and I get them all to myself.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
I am still a puppy, so I hang out in my cozy crate while Alex and Bud are out of the house.

Where do you sleep?
I sleep in my crate in the office.

What do you love about your foster family?
I love that they have been patient with me and are teaching me about boundaries.

What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
I was taken to St. Louis County animal control because my first family didn’t realize what a bundle of energy a puppy can be. It wasn’t long before Alex and Bud decided to take a “chance” on me as their first foster pup.

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they grow up. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
