My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

KoKo is a 7-year-old spayed female black lab. KoKo weighs 57 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Setting: Rural, suburban
Dwelling: Single Family or townhouse
Fence: No fence required

Mar 9, 2018: Koko had a vacation foster for a week while foster mom was out of town and did wonderful there! Foster mom has this to say about her: Koko was a dream to sub-foster, even with the rain and snow! This sweet 40 pound little nugget was so chill in a new home and greeted several painters daily, electricians, and appliance repair gents with a bark and a tail wag. Think she has a thing for men.... ! She takes treats very gently, a champ on the leash to do her business (new skill), slept peacefully on her bed at night, and loves to snooze in a sunbeam or on the couch if invited. Koko is very smart and loving! She gets her insulin shot without even noticing while chowing down on the end of her meals and is adjusting to her limited vision very well.

Oct 8, 2017: Koko is playful, affectionate, smart as a whip, and loves long walks and car rides. She is perfect in the house is not crated. Koko needs a fenced in yard only because she will not poop on a leash, though her foster family is working with her on that and she's making progress. A few weeks ago she was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus but one simple insulin injection daily has restored her to her normal, exuberant self. Koko does fine in an end unit townhouse with a ton of activity and traffic and rarely barks unless someone comes to the door. She would probably be best as an only pet but can and does live with another dog whom she has learned to trust. Koko is good on walks and loves to say hello to the neighbors. She does not like meeting neighborhood dogs face to face but is fine sitting at a comfortable distance when her people are chatting with another dog owner.

Aug 21, 2017: KoKo is a dream in the house and a smart, affectionate girl who only wants to please and get belly rubs in return. She loves to go for walks and could jog with you but also fine hanging out and watching a little TV and cuddling. She's great in the car and would love trips especially those involving water. Baby pool in the back yard works in the mean time.

Jun 25, 2017: Koko was a little shy at first but gradually has become a real character. She would be perfect for an older couple, family with older kids, or a single person that liked to go hiking or walking or jogging but lived a quieter life at home. Koko adores her human(s) and is very content to lie under the dining room table whenever foster mom works but follows her upstairs when she gets ready to leave the house and at bedtime when she loves to snuggle. She is good with laid back dogs once they are slowly introduced.

Jun 16, 2017: Koko has a lot of personality! Foster mom likes to call her funny face or squiggly wiggly. She is a cuddler extraordinaire, takes treats gently, loves long walks and hunting and long naps and stuffies and human attention. She needs slow intros to other dogs as living with them is new to her. She does well with her foster brother and hangs out with him un-crated while foster mom is at work. She is still PERFECT in the house and can be left alone to snooze on the couch or bed or doggie bed for hours. She is a princess and likes to move to cooler rooms. She is 100% house trained. She is very smart and rarely barks (unless she successfully trees a squirrel and wants to celebrate!). Koko is great in the car. She is a very active 7 year old and could easily enjoy a few long walks/jogs per day, but is very low key in the house. Koko has definitely cuddled her way into her foster mom's heart and will cuddle into yours too!

Jun 6, 2017: Koko is a lovely frosted girl who will do most anything for a delicious treat! She was eager to show off her sit, down and impressive tongue shot for the camera!

Jun 3, 2017: Koko is 7 years young and has perfect house manners. She does not need to be crated and can have full access to the house. She loves to cuddle, long walks and squeaky toys. She would prefer a home with a fenced in yard and no cats.

May 25, 2017: Koko is an affectionate, loving lab who is on the hunt for her forever family. She loves the beach and swimming. She also likes to run and go for hikes and loves to play tug of war. Koko is house trained and crate trained but hasn't been crated in years. She does pull on the leash but an easy walk harness works great. She knows basic commands, sit, down, stay, play dead and target. She's never lived with cats but is too interested in them on walks so probably best no cats. She is used to being the only dog in the home, so may do best either as a solo dog or with a calm, laid back companion (like her foster brother). She lived with older kids and did well, but she can get anxious around small kids, so she is approved for kids 10 and up.
