My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Being confined to a kennel is very hard on a coonhound especially a big one. Rosie has struggled month after month to endure the small confines of this environment in which she lives for 22 hours every day. Only in her dreams can she be running full tilt with her beautiful baying voice sounding off as she revels in the sunshine and the rush of smells coming at her from every direction. Rosie's spirit has been suppressed for 9 months and at times the sadness and longing can be heard in her voice as she pleads for someone to take her away and give her the life which she was meant to live. Rosie may be food aggressive with other dogs who are eating within her visual range so should be fed in a separate area. She did not have much socialization before coming to the shelter in January and our volunteers and staff have devoted much time to giving her companionship as she waits for her person to find her. She is a BIG girl and is very strong on a leash. She must have secure fencing to keep her safe when outside. Rosie is almost 2 years old and is a redbone coonhound. Her adoption fee is subsidized to $50. Application can be submitted online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application/ or at the shelter.
Rosie has a video on her FB page at: https://www.facebook.com/smithgallhumanesociety/

Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home appropriate for their needs and that will keep them safe. Each is loved and nurtured by our staff and volunteers during their stay with us and each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own family members. Adoption policies and application procedures are at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. All approved adopters must accompany their new family member on the journey home. We do not ship nor transport.

Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4.
