My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

10/21/18 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $100
Fostered in Louisiana
Age: 10.5 yearsWeight: 7.5 lbs.

9/30/18 - Doodlebug was adopted in November of 2017. She loved her new mom and was a happy, spoiled baby girl, but her adoptive mom became terminally ill and unable to care for her, so she called YHR to make sure her little girl would be taken care of when she passed. Doodle is now back with her previous foster mom and is once again looking for that special mom where she can be the only baby in the home to be loved. She is still very spunky and lively and definitely does not act her age. Please read below for information about Doodlebug's personality since she is still the same diva as before.

8/28/17 - Doodle was asked to leave her last home because family members with children were moving in and Doodle isn’t a fan of children. So that was that. She packed her bags, filled out her forwarding address form and moved in with her Yorkie Haven foster mom.

She really likes a low key environment without a lot of coming and going. She is a very sweet girl that is constantly looking up at you. We can definitely tell that he last home had some affect on her since she isn’t a fan of being picked up. However, when it is time to go night-night, she will come running with her other fur-siblings and wait to be picked up and put on the bed. You have to talk sweet to her as you pick her up and be very slow about it or she will cause a fuss and act as if she will nip at you. We are making a fuss over her and loving her to let her know that not everyone will snatch her up quickly and be rough with her. Even though she is older, she still has energy and doesn’t act her age (other than the naps lol).

She is fine with a bath and blow dry and simply adores belly rubs. You have to take things slow with Doodle, but it is well worth it. Just a few rubs on her side and a sweet voice makes her roll over, belly face up and paws in air. And, of course when you stop petting that cute little belly, she uses her paws to let you know not to stop. She doesn’t give kisses, but if done very gently, doesn’t mind getting them.

She loves sleeping in bed with her humans and sleeps great. She will go outside to do business when brought, but don’t even think about not going out with her. She will turn around and come right back in. She says, “I go, you go.” She tends to choose the concrete over the grass, but will go in the grass at times.

She will bark when she feels she needs to and even though she doesn’t mind co-existing with other dogs, she will stand up for herself and be a grouchy lady if they get a little to much “in her face” or “loud/rowdy”. She definitely would not do good in a home with very active animals or with children.

She also tends to be more scared of men. In her foster home, her foster dad has seemed to gain her trust a little, but she definitely has some unresolved anxiety with men versus women. With that being said, she would do better in a home with just a mom unless that home has an exceptionally sweet and understanding dad that can show Doodle that men can be just as nice as women.

She has a great appetite and cleans her bowl at breakfast and supper. Even though Doodle loves attention, she isn’t one that needs it continuously. She is a sweet baby with an eccentric personality who wants to feel loved and safe. Is that too much to ask? I think not!!
