My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mocha, an approximately 1-2 year old female spayed Dachshund mix was surrendered to CARE Southcoast due to an unforeseen medical emergency.
There was a poor prognosis based on her initial diagnostics and response to treatment, but we had to give her a chance. Mocha's bloodwork showed that her liver values were severely elevated and that her blood was not clotting. After several days in the ICU receiving blood transfusions and other supportive care measures, Mocha was discharged to her foster family with plans to recheck her bloodwork after one month of additional at home medications. Her recheck bloodwork showed no residual blood work abnormalities and she is now in search of the perfect FURever home!

Mocha has adjusted well to her foster home that consists of both dogs (large and small) and cats. She enjoys frolicking around the yard with her foster sister and brother, chasing balls and other toys. She is house and crate trained and knows several basic commands including sit and lie down. She is learning how to walk on a leash without pulling, although she does tend to get excited on her walks. Mocha has so much energy and would do well in an active household and one with a large fenced in yard. At this point she has not had much experience with young children, and she does jump when she gets very excited, so a home with children older than 7 would be preferred. Mocha attended basic puppy classes however additional training classes would be recommended to continue her education.
