My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ARNIE!

Arnie is a cute red head, 10 lb. short hair, 4.5 year old mini doxie. He is neutered, up to date on shots, and he's crate & potty trained. He loves to play, run the land, and knows basic commands. He enjoys wearing his harness and we're working to improve his leash training. This funny, happy go lucky, healthy boy is a non-barker, minds well, and is very eager to please! He is very protective of his family. A home without young kids (kids over 12 ok) or cats, but he may do well with a small friendly female doxie/or small dog. He's such a character and an escape artist, so a secure doxie proof wood fenced yard is a must. He just loves to hangout outside and sunbathe! Arnie loves his big crate filled with lots of warm blankets and a bully stick, he needs his crate to be next to his owners bed or he cant sleep. A doxie saavy home is a must for Arnie, when you earn his trust/make him feel safe, and give him a little tlc he will be your BFF! He needs to be in his crate before answering the door to visitors. He will do best with a stay at home/work from home owner. Arnie has so much potential and loves to play with his toys, is very smart & loving, and super loyal to his family! This little sweetheart just needs someone to give him a chance, and then you will wonder how you ever lived without him! His bags are packed and he's sooo ready to roll! Arnie's had a rough start to life, but only YOU can give him a happily ever after!

Arnie will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, Arnie is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Arnie needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give Arnie a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
