My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is what a survivor looks like. 28lbs of awkward puppy body, floppy ears, and “sad” puppy eyes. In other words, incredibly handsome. Theo was surrendered to a high kill shelter when he began showing classic symptoms of Parvovirus – vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy. We scooped him up and rushed him right to the ER where he declined quickly, barely able to stand or lift his head, and had a very guarded prognosis. Thankfully, after over a week of aggressive treatment with our phenomenal vet teams, Theo pulled through and fully earned his survivor title. Now approximately 4 months old, our boy no longer has to worry about his health, and can focus on being a carefree puppy! Toys, sticks, digging around in the dirt…all newly discovered fun for this guy. And laying in the grass, and feeling the fresh air? Best thing ever. When he lifts his head and takes in the breeze, it looks like he is truly relishing every moment. Theo, appropriately named after our Shepherd girl, Thea, who we rescued exactly one year prior, is in foster with dogs of all sizes and loves their company. While the world can still be a bit of a scary place for our warrior boy, we are confident that he will continue to flourish in a forever home with a loving family who is committed to continuing his socialization and training. Our long legged Sheppie would love another dog friend who likes to play but would also be completely content as a loyal only pup provided lots of cuddle time is included in his day. Since he is still a baby, Theo is working on mastering his housebreaking and crate training skills and, true to his Shepherd breed, he has a lot to say, especially during playtime. That just means a lifetime of good conversation. Theo is up to date on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed and microchipped. What's the most amazing thing Theo did this year? Survived. What's the most amazing thing to come? His forever family. Apply at omdrescue.org.
