Here she is: Myrtle the Turtle or Myrtle for short
You may have seen Myrtle on the “Sponsors Needed” page but she has graduated to the “Available for Adoption” page. Myrtle is around 9 or 10 years of age but she looks and acts like a much younger beagle. She is a beautiful smaller chocolate beagle girl who absolutely loves to be wherever her human is. She is a Velcro beagle that loves attention and loves to cuddle. She doesn’t make much noise and seldom ever barks so she would be OK for an apartment. She likes to walk and does like to eat so her new family will need to watch that she doesn’t over-eat. She loves her treats and she likes to entice everyone to offer her treats. I mean, who can resist those gentle eyes and her sweat loving demeanor? She is a couch potato but will race around to follow her human. She even sits and stares out the window waiting for her foster mom to come home from work. Then the excitement with tail wagging and very soft “aroooos” erupts whenever she knows the door is opening and then ….what a greeting. Myrtle does most of her “talking” with her tail and expressions and she celebrates with such excitement that her foster mom becomes so happy no matter what the day was like.
So why was Myrtle on the “Needs a Sponsor” page? Myrtle has chronic rhinitis which is an inflammation of her nasal cavities by a former injury or infection. She has been to two veterinarian specialists to diagnose what was going on with her and luckily it wasn’t something serious. She will need to be on medicine for a while and maybe for the rest of her life. She will need to have her condition monitored until fully regulated. However, all the hard parts are over and since she is doing much better and on the mend, Myrtle is ready for her forever home. She also will need artificial tears administered to her one eye three times a day. Because of her rhinitis, her one eye bulges slightly but it does not seem to bother her in the least. Myrtle has learned to be calm while her eye is treated. She is a real trooper.
The beauty and love Myrtle offers is worth the little extra. She appreciates having a home where she is loved. She did not have a good start to life so having a home and being loved is a real treat for her and she shows how much she appreciates her new life by cuddling and being a lovable beagle girl.
Myrtle is house-trained, likes other dogs, is OK around cats, rides well in the car, she is crate-trained, and awesome, awesome, awesome. She is looking for a home where she will be adored and adored and adored. She is suitable for an apartment or home and since her human is the center of her world, she would be OK if she were the only dog. Myrtle will steal your heart. I know, I am her foster mom and she stole mine.
