My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie: 6-year-old female yellow Lab mix 78 lbs

This Dixie is no wallflower. Sprung out of a local shelter, she was taken into custody (along with the four other dogs she was living in a car with) when her owner was arrested on charges unrelated to Dixie and the rest of her pack. While she seems to be in pretty darn good health, we suspect she has lived a hard and rough life. But her wiggly butt indicates she totally lives in the present and is willing to keep her eye on the ball – or whatever else you are tossing for her to fetch.

What Dixie’s Foster says:

Dixie is a great find. She is a super sweet, easy going dog. She is housebroken and seems happy inside or out. She's good on walks, passes other dogs and cats with mild interest. She not only loves to fetch but also makes sure to bring the ball to you so you can throw it again and again. Her only fault so far is her desire to climb up on the bed or sofa (but she responds well when told “No”). A home where she had her own sofa (or could share it with you) would make her one very happy girl.

What Dixie’s Rescue Rep says:

Chipped, current on vaccinations, and spayed, we will be taking Dixie to the vet in the near future for a full check-up. She appears to be crate-trained. Gets along with other dogs. May be okay with cats. Dixie is located in Pinole.

If you are interested in Dixie, call, text, or email Rescue Rep Dave, 415-686-4248, david.c.ely@sbcglobal.net.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
