My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name? Opie or Ope

How old are you? 9 months old (a/o 9/13/17)

How much do you weigh? A good 45 pounds

What do you look like? Everyone tells me I'm so handsome and it must have gone to my head. I am white and brindle with a nice set of bat ears. My foster mom says I have the sweetest brown eyes as well.

What do you like to eat? Nature's Domain Puppy chicken and pea formula. Although I love when my mom adds some shredded chicken and cooked carrots into my dinner. I also LOVE the bacon cookies from Petco! And I won't complain if you give me my kong stuffed with peanut butter!

What kind of personality do you have? I'm a cuddle bug (personal space...what's that?)! But I'm also a little quirky. Mom says it's because I'm still a puppy.

Describe your perfect day: I would really love waking up and getting breakfast followed by playing with my human or doggy friend. Then going inside and having a nice nap on the couch.

What is your favorite toy? I love bully stick coils and elk antlers (the elk antlers last longer). I like my kong especially stuffed with peanut butter. Socks are also pretty cool.

Do you know any tricks? I just learned how to sit and am working on stay. My foster mom says I'm pretty smart especially if you have a treat in your hand.

What scares you? I'm really scared of being left alone. And sprinklers those things are evil.

Have you been around children? Yes. Do you like them? YES!!! I love kids. I want to play with them when I see them.

Do you like cats? I do! I love trying to chase them and play. Although they normally are too fast for me. The older fat one lets me lick him sometimes.

How do you feel about other dogs? I LOVE them. With proper introduction of course.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? I would want to be anywhere next to my humans.

How is your health? Great! But my foster parents told me that one of my hind legs has a minor joint problem but it is healing. And I will probably always have a scar. But it sure doesn't stop me from doing anything.

Who do you live with at your foster home and who is your closest companion? I live with my foster mom and my foster dad. I have 5 foster cat brothers/sisters and one tiny kitten that's a foster like me! Although only one of them actually likes hanging with me. Snobs.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? I hangout in my indoor crate.

Where do you sleep? On my bed and blanket next to my foster mom and dads bed. But I would love to sleep in bed with you.

Do you like walking on a leash? I walk pretty good on leash. I'm working on the pulling (I mean so many exciting smells it's hard to control myself) . We recently got a harness and that's helping.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard? I will whine when put in my crate but will quickly acclimate. I also love digging up sprinklers. (My foster grandpa does it for a living so I'm sure I'm just helping him). Also chewing/nibbling, foster mom and dad are working very hard to break this habit. But if you give me my kong or one of my toys I will chew on it for a long time.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside) Yes. Although occasionally will have an accident if left alone past 10 hours.

Do you like water? I love to drink it. But playing in it? No. I do tolerate baths because I know treats come after!

What do you love about your foster family? Oh man where do I start? I love that they cuddle with me on Sunday mornings. I love kisses and when they play with me. I especially love when my uncle comes over and rough houses with me in the backyard. I mostly just love it when they are home with me.
What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
I was wandering the streets of Stockton when I was luckily picked up and brought to my fosters house. I was injured some how but healing up nicely.

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$350. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

Opie's adoption donation is $350.

Interested in meeting Opie or any of our available pooches? Complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com and we will respond to you within 24 to 48 hours.
