This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.
NAME: Blue
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 1 Year
WEIGHT: About 6 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Will be fine in a home with children (12 and older)
Introducing sweet Blue. This girl has the rare and beautiful "blue" coloring, thus her name! We know your friends will blue with envy if you adopt this girl in to your family - LOL.
Blue and her sisters were turned in to a local shelter. We believe they were being raised by a Chihuahua breeder. There were over 10 dogs turned in at once from this family. All the dogs appear to be pure Chihuahua. These little ones were a bit shy the first few days but their personalities are really beginning to bloom as they get personalized attention!
Blue has a very sweet submissive personality. She took a few days to warm up in her foster home, but now she is settling in. One thing we have noticed is that even though Blue likes people, she does not like to be picked up and held. We suspect that may be because she was never held and cuddled as a puppy (how sad is that?). We are hoping that she will begin to fell comfortable enough to let her humans cuddle with her. We can tell she wants to be loved - she just isn't sure how that works yet.
Blue also gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She is actually coming out of her shell with the other dogs and has begun playing with them! She has such a care free joy - it as if she is finally feeling a real sense of freedom. We think she would really enjoy having other dogs in her forever home to play with.
Blue is not potty trained yet. But she is learning very quickly and has already learned to use a pee pee pad. She will sleep in a crate at night. She even puts herself in the crate when she knows it is time for bed. She does protect her little home - she will bark if people approach her while she is in the crate. Blue is smart, and we believe she will pick up the routines quickly as she learns how to be a secure family member versus the way she was raised in a breeding mill.
Blue's coat is beautiful and she has beautiful eyes. She is a perfect 6 pounds and is fully grown. Blue is about 1 year old. Due to Blue's shy personality, we recommend an all adult home, or a home with older, mature children.
