Hoover's Story...
Hoover is a male Hound that we estimate to be about 6 months old. This is one of four Hounds we have right now that we believe are siblings. We claimed Hoover from the Austin City dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked him up being loose, and placed him into the dog pound. The owner then has 10 days to claim their dog, but no one showed up to claim him, so we took him into our Humane Society shelter. It is our belief that someone abandoned these 4 pups intentionally and they were not "lost". Hoover is on the thin side right now, but he has a healthy appetite and is at a lanky sort of growing age. He can be a little on the shy side, but part of that is due to the stressful nature of living at the Shelter. We expect that in a private home, the dog will be able to develop more self-confidence. Be aware that Hounds can honk and bark loudly, so they often do not make good outdoor dogs if you have nearby neighbors. Also, their coat is probably too thin to be housed outside anyway. Because he is a little on the sheepish side, we do not think this would make a good hunting dog. Pansy is current with vaccinations and is spayed. The adoption fee is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hoover, a Austin Beagle/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Austin, or seeking a Beagle/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Beagle/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
