My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

La Femme NIKITA, Kita for short, is a sweet 7 year blue female with natural ears that partially stand and flip at the tip, which makes her look very silly at times. For 7 she is very healthy, active and loves to run and play. Kita is good with cats, male dogs and children. She is a talker and will woof at you when she gets excited or you make her sit and she is receiving a treat. She loves her dog beds, but also will enjoy curling up on the couch with you. Kita came to us through another rescuer. Her original owner had a baby and even though it was mainly the husband’s dog, she had to go for no fault of her own. She was dropped off at the local shelter, where one of the employees took her home and then contacted MAGDRL. Kita is very obedient, listens very well in the house and outside. For a senior, she is a wonderful dane that has many years left to be your loyal companion. I would like to see her go into a home with another laid back dog for company as she was lonely in her previous foster home and would sometimes bark during the day. Nikita came to MAGDRL in November 2008.

Update 11/23/08 - Kita has settles in and her true colors are coming out. She is still a sweetheart, but will not take any getting into her face from any other dog. She is great as long as nobody tries to steal her toys. She also will take any opportunity to surf the counters when there is food on the table. So far the thief has not succeeded, but has come close. The vet gave her an overall good bill of health except for a rash on her nose. After obtaining her vet records, she has been “treated” for this the past 3-4 years with no success. We are taking a more holistic approach to things and will see how this works. Overall she is a very sweet girl.
