Oh where to start with Simon. He is sweet, smart and has masses of playful energy, as one would expect from a young, approximately one-year-old, puppy-dog. Simon only weighs about 40lbs and is most likely full-grown, although he may gain a little weight as he ages – as most of us do! He is also deaf but he does not let this stop him from following his obedience commands or from enjoying himself to the full. Simon already responds beautifully to sit and is quickly mastering down. He is easily motivated by both treats and toys and the handlers are using this to good advantage during his obedience training sessions. Simon loves to play with toys and with encouragement he is swapping them nicely. He still displays some puppy-like behavior such as chewing on the leash but he is smart enough that, with training, he will learn this is an undesirable behavior. When Simon first came to us he was obviously overwhelmed by his new surroundings and cowered and shook at the back of his cage. He will still do this sometimes when approached in his cage by someone he is not familiar with. We have found that this is only an initial reaction and after he has had a chance to meet the person calmly, Simon quickly reveals his playful outgoing self.
Simon is deaf & is a special needs dog looking for a special adopter. He is a sweet young pup and will make the right person a wonderful companion.
