Helllooooo, Chicago! I’m Bones! I think maybe my people named me that because I could be considered “big-boned.” I am a big silly hunk of a dude at about 70 pounds! I’m actually a Victorian bulldog, which means I’m a little taller than my English bulldog foster sister. But my big mug is proportionate to my body! Anyway, the nice folks at Chicago Animal Care and Control found me wandering the streets as a stray and decided to call in my new friends at Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, yay! They picked me up and put me in a nice warm foster home with lots of fun stuff to play with! Just what a young man of 2 years needs. They’re gonna take me to the vet this week to get me up to date on my shots and take care of a little infection in my eyes. I’m already neutered and microchipped and will be ready for my new home soon enough.

I may be two years old, but I definitely have the personality of a puppy! I’m REALLY curious about everything around me, so I like to stick my nose in there to check it out thoroughly. I’m working really hard to figure out what’s ok to play with and what’s not. Turns out that bath towels aren’t supposed to be shredded...oops. So I hope my new family will work with me on my manners! It should be easy though, because let me tell you, I will do ANYTHING for a treat. I know how to sit, lay down, and even speak! And I learned all that in one night! What can I say? I’m a smart dude. Have I mentioned that I will sit at the door and wait when I need to go outside? I don’t have accidents in the house, no way.

I’m really a happy guy! I always have a smile on my big face, because I just love being around people and other dogs. My life would be complete if you would give me a tummy rub in the morning and throw a toy around for me sometimes. You’ll laugh when you see my silly lope to run and get my toys, but I promise I’ll bring them right back to you. I sometimes get sad and bark when I want to play, which I hope my new family will work on too. I need to realize that I can’t always be the center of attention. I get along great with other dogs, because I listen when they tell me I’m overstepping my boundaries. And cats? No problem, I won’t bother them. And kids, they’re ok too! Bigger kiddos would be better though because of my size.

I do alright when I’m on my own in my crate, but I’d really like to go to a home that has lots of time to spend with me. Like I said, I love to play and have lots of energy, so I’d love to have constant companions! I’d also like to go to a home that will make me work for my treats and help brush me up on my manners. A training class would be SO COOL! Sign me up, pretty please?

I try to be gentle, but my foster mom says I’m kind of like a bull in a china shop. Can you blame me? I can’t help how big I am! I also get really excited on walks, so I have a tendency to pull on my leash. I would probably do best in a home with older kids and adults. But once I get there, I promise, I will be the best bulldog I can be!
