Ruff Ruff! My name is Ivy
|Size:||Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less||Sex:||Female|
I am already spayed, purebred, and up to date with shots.
Ivy was rescued from a commercial breeding facility in Nebraska. For 10 years she was bred over and over, nearly to death. She was afraid to come out of her carrier when she first arrived at HUA. It became apparent that she was experiencing pain from a large hernia which developed due to the years and years of breeding. Ivy has some teeth missing, and others are so rotten that no doubt she will lose more. Also due to the lack of dental care she has a hole in her upper jaw. When Ivy was taken to play in the grass for the first time she came alive. She was so happy to be free and feel the sun and the warm grass. She warmed right up to people and realized that she is now safe and loved. We are so happy for Ivy! Her joy is our joy.
Ivy is a female dachshund. She was born in 1999 and weighs 13 pounds.
Ivy would love to have you visit her at her very own webpage.

Help this Shelter by making a donation.
Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill animal shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization dedicated to the relief of suffering. We rescue dogs from all over the country and specialize in long distance adoptions. We take the creatures who are lost, afraid, hungry or ill and comfort them, give them a warm, soft bed, good food, medical care and most of all, love.
HUA is a place of happiness, joy and love. Everything we do is in the best interest of the dogs. There are no cages. The dogs have big fields of grass and trees in which to run. Our primary interest is what will make them happy. HUA is a place to celebrate the joy of life.
All of our pets are available for viewing on the internet at www.hua.org. Come read their stories and see their individual pages.
The adoption fee for all dogs is $200.
We require an application (found on our website). We also require a home visit and vet reference check. Fenced yards are required for most dogs. Many of our dogs may not be good with children, or it may depend on the age of the children...please feel free to ask who we would consider good with young ones.
All dogs will come spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, current on vaccinations and heartworm prevention.
We put the welfare of the dogs before all else and are very careful with their placement. Many of our dogs are puppy mill survivors or have otherwise been physically or emotionally traumatized. Our goal is to find them the very best homes possible where they will be loved and adored family members, where they will be kept safe and receive no less than exceptional care for the rest of their lives.
