My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lizzie has become a new dog in the time she has been here with us. She has learned the ropes from the residents and is starting to act like a real beagle. Her new talents include counter surfing (good thing she is so short!), rapid tail-wagging, finding rabbit trails in the yard, and playing with her toys (and your toys if you leave them on the floor). She has also choreographed her own dinner dance, and she sings and bounces for every meal. The scared little beagle who wouldn’t take a pig ear or cookie from us when she first got here will now proudly scamper off with one whenever she gets these special treats.

Along with coming out of her shell and being more playful, Lizzie has let us know that she does NOT like to go outside and potty when it is below 15 degrees. We can’t really blame her for that, but we want her new family to know that she will sometimes need help remembering she is housetrained.

Lizzie met some young children and while she did not exactly enjoy them, she was tolerant of them. We think she will do best in a quieter home without a lot of activity or small children. She would be ok with older children and the occasional young child visitor. For now, she may prefer to stay in her crate or in a gated off area when rambunctious company is present.

Quick movements and loud noises still startle Lizzie quite a bit, but she is more courageous every day. This goes for meeting new people, too. Lizzie is very comfortable with us now but she is still shy when new people are over or when she goes to a new place. She just needs a little time to warm up to newcomers and know that no one is going to hurt her. We have also noticed that Lizzie does not have exactly 20/20 vision, so that may attribute to her shyness. But if she can’t see well, it isn’t obvious and she hardly seems to notice. Her nose is in perfect working order!

Contact BREW today if Lizzie sounds like your match. She is a very sweet, spunky girl who deserves a loving home!
