Barkley's Story...
Barkley was born 3-25-97. His papers call him Phoenix Rising - but you will have to ask him how he got the name Butch !! He is TICA and CFA registered. He is the oldest of the 7 kitties - but is in great shape and has many good years left to spend with you. Barkley is very affectionate and friendly. All these kitties still like to play and will chase a laser or jump at a feather toy. Barkley has plenty of energy and spunk left !! He has grown up with dogs and cats and not much phases him - he would probably do well in any environment. These pictures do not do any of these kitties justice. Their coats are plush and the colors are striking. Unfortunately their breeder passed away early this year. Her daughter has been a great caregiver to these cats - but can no longer keep them. They have never been caged - and have been loved and well cared for. They are happy and healthy - and will make wonderful pets for some lucky people. This is a spectacular kitty ! We don't often see cats of this quality come through rescue. If you would like more information about Barkley - Jen 707-301-6540,

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barkley, a Davis American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Davis, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Davis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Davis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Davis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Davis paves the way for another one to be saved.
