My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello- I'm PUMPKIN! I am a mixed breed dog and I am full grown at approximately 28 lbs. I have a slender body and long legs and I am white with beige speckles. My foster family tells me I am beautiful! I am spayed, up to date on shots and have been treated for the prevention of ear mites, fleas and worms. I am an indoor only dog and I LOVE people. I do well with both children and adults. I really enjoy being taken on long walks- and if you go running or jogging I love to come along with you. I have great endurance! I know how to 'sit', 'shake' and 'lay'-- and I'm just learning 'roll over'. I have a great temperament and if you provide me with a committed loving home for the duration of my life, I will be forever devoted to you. Did I mention I love to sit next to you and put my head on your lap? I also love to snuggle up next to you in bed and bury my head under the covers! I get along well with adult cats. My foster family has two other small puppies and I do well with them- but I prefer a home with no other dogs. I love attention and if I could be the only dog in a home- this would be a dream home for me! I am approximately 2 years old. To tell you about my background- I had a pretty rough start in life. My first owner kept me tied to a tree with a very heavy chain. I always wondered when I would have a meal or a bowl of water. I was sun burnt in the summer and my skin would badly burn. In the winter I couldn't keep warm and I shivered without shelter- dreaming of warmth. My owner at the time bred me over and over again- and would sell my puppies at the flea market. He did not use that money to buy me food or to give me shelter. I was forced to continue reproducing, litter after litter and many times the other dogs would beat me up. One day the people didn't want me anymore and they turned me into the pound. I was sitting on death row when the wonderful people at Advocates 4 Animals came and rescued me! Being behind bars in the shelter was a whole other experience- it was horrible to sleep on the cement floors and never know what would happen to me next. After everything I had been through I just decided to curl up in a ball and shut off my emotions. I had given up...Until I was rescued! I have been living in a foster home with a wonderful Advocates 4 Animal volunteer and I love the indoor life! I had never been in a house before and I had to learn to use the stairs (they scared me at first) and to be potty trained (I've had just 2 accidents in my foster home- but I'm nearly fully potty trained now). I am eager to please and I just want to make you happy- so I catch on quickly and love to learn! It is so wonderful to be loved and cared for. I always have fresh water and good food. And I love getting treats! And I have a lot of blankets and comfortable places to lounge around the house. I also have a basket full of toys that I play nicely with. Life is wonderful and when I find a home to call my very own- forever, I will be the happiest girl in the world!

If you have any questions about me, or would like to inquire about adopting me into your home- please contact the wonderful people at Advocates 4 Animals today! I am patiently waiting to find a home to call my very own, for my entire lifetime. I look forward to meeting you!

Comment from Pumpkin's Foster Parents: 'Pumpkin is a wonderful girl! She is so sweet and so good with people. She has a great personality and just wants to be loved. One of our favorite things that Pumpkin does (it is VERY cute!) is when we come home she is the most excited girl ever! She wiggles her whole body (not just her tail) and seems to have a big smile on her face! She always lets us know that we are loved and appreciated!'

VIDEO COMING SOON...

Please contact Advocates 4 Animals to begin the adoption process.

1. A phone or e-mail interview will be conducted

2. If approved, an Advocates 4 Animals member will contact you and schedule a 'meet & greet' with the adoptable pet
The 'meet & greet' will be held in your home.

3. At that time of the home visit, we will assess if the pet(s) is a good match for both the family/individual adopting the pet and the home environment.

Please note:
-All individuals living in the home must agree to adopt the pet into their home. All members of the home should be present during the 'meet & greet'-- including additional pets who live in the home.

-If Advocates 4 Animals determines that the pet is not a good fit for the potential adopter, this will be discussed at the time of the home visit.

-Every pet is different. Some pets have highly specialized needs (ie: type of environment, other pets, etc.) while others adjust easily to various environments. Pets take time to adjust to their new home and new family. All pets have been housed in foster homes while they wait to find a home to call their very own. All adoptable rescue pets are up to date on shots, treated for the prevention of ear mites, fleas and worms and have been spayed/neutered.

-Advocates 4 Animals requires an adoption donation fee of $100.00. The adoption donation assists us in rescuing and rehabilitating additional homeless pets. Our organization is run solely on donations and with volunteers. Without your support we could not continue our efforts!

Please contact Advocates 4 Animals and introduce yourself. Please be sure to let us know which pet you are interested in potentially adopting. We will respond within 48 hours of your request. Thank you for adopting a rescue pet!
