Kramer's Story...
Kramer is a large and lanky 1 year old male that appears to be mostly Black Lab, but may also have a touch of Doberman in him. He is about 1 year old and he weighs about 50 pounds. Kramer came to us from the Austin City dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked him up being loose, and placed him into the dog pound. The owner then has 10 days to claim their dog, but no one showed up to claim Kramer, so we took him into our Humane Society shelter. Kramer is a rather active, high-energy dog, but a lot of that is probably due to being cooped up in the Shelter. He can run like a deer and loves to have fun out in our runyard. He has done great with all the volunteers and visitors that have passed through the Shelter. Kramer resides in a 5' x 10' kennel pen so it makes it hard for us to know if he is housetrained or not. His prospective home should plan on doing some housetraining work just to be sure. The adoption fee for Kramer is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kramer, a Austin Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
