Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Smitty is one special kitten. Not only is he a soccer star, but he's a soccer star with two broken legs! We don't know how his legs got broken, but we do know that a kind person heard a kitten wailing in distress when she went out to mail a letter. It was a cold night, and the kitten was in bad shape. It was incredibly lucky that she happened upon him at her mailbox just then, because his odds of surviving the night probably weren't very good.
His rescuer took him to her veterinarian, where he was x-rayed and treated. Many kind people rallied to his cause, donating money for his care and medical treatment. Luckily, other than his legs, he was in good health, and is expected to make a full recovery, since kittens are very resilient. The standard vet joke is, if you put the two ends of a cat's broken leg in the same room, they will heal.
Because he was fearful at first and no doubt in pain, the kitten spit and hissed, so his rescuer called him Spitty. He is now a sweet, lovable, purr-baby. Since his rescuer's last name was Smith, Smitty he became.
