FRED's Story...
8/27/05:HELLO MY NAME IS FRED AND I APPEAR TO BE APPROXIMATELY 4 YEARS OLD. I WAS KING OF MARION RUNNING ALL OVER FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND NOT BUNKING IN ONE PLACE VERY LONG.

WHEN I AM NOT IN A FENCE, I AM AFRAID OF PEOPLE. I LOVE OTHER DOGS AND LOVE TO PLAY, PLAY, PLAY. I LOVE TREATS AND AM VERY WELL BEHAVED.

I AM NEUTERED, MICROCHIPPED, UP TO DATE ON ALL SHOTS, AND HEARTWORM NEGATIVE. I AM ALSO ON HEARTWORM AND FLEA PREVENTATIVE MEDS.

I AM HOUSEBROKEN AND VERY LOVING. I WILL NEED TO GO TO A HOME WHERE THERE ARE OTHER DOGS AND MUST HAVE A LARGE FENCED IN AREA FOR ME TO STAY WHEN I NEED TO GO OUT. I AM FEARFUL TO THINGS BEING HELD IN YOUR HANDS . I AM REALLY AFRAID OF LOUD NOISES LIKE THUNDER AND FIREWORKS.

YOU WILL FIND I AM ONE OF THE MOST LOVING DOGS YOU HAVE MET IF YOU GIVE ME A CHANCE! I WILL NEED TO HAVE THE ROUTINE ANNUAL VETERINARY CARE ALSO.

IF YOU FEEL YOU COULD PROVIDE A WONDERFUL HOME FOR ME, PLEASE CONTACT KIM AT LOVEMELOVEMYDOGS2004@INDY.RR.COM FOR AN APPLICATION.

Adoption donation averages $200-300 for adults and pups older than 6 months (tiny puppies slightly more). This is due to the rising costs of veterinary care, gasoline prices, and boarding fees which are paid for out of our own pockets. As we are not funded by anyone - adoption donations help to offset only a part of our cost of getting the dog ready for adoption. All dogs > 6months are vetted, up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, wormed and have a goody starter bag. Puppies < 6 months will have at least 2 puppy vaccinations, microchipped, wormed, and goody starter bag with an average fee of $200-250. If age appropriate, will potentially also be spayed/neutered and have rabies vaccination also with an average fee of $250-300.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

FRED, a Marion Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Marion, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Marion.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marion already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marion breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marion paves the way for another one to be saved.
