Shadow's Story...
My name is Shadow, and I'm known as a Lurcher. You may have heard about dogs that are leaners before, and, well, frankly, I'm that, too. But what's a Lurcher? We're a special breed, one that's made of Greyhound and Collie. We were bred in the British Isles, so people on this side of the sea haven't always heard of us. Now, the name Lurcher is derived from a word that means THIEF, and this Lurcher might just steal your heart. My ancestors were bred to travel with gypsies and hunt and poach. But I'm tired of being a gypsy, and I'd love to find a home of my own where I could settle down. No more traveling life for me. And poaching—oh, no. I might grab a treat now and then. (In fact, I've been known to have quite the taste for peanut butter cookies!) But “poach” sounds aggressive. I prefer the term “acquisition”—it's much more civilized. And I'm a civilized and well-behaved gentleman, for sure. I'm quite adept at that “sit” command, you know. But I'm not too civilized to be against having some silly fun, like a good belly rub. In fact, belly rubs and hugs are some of my favorite things. I hope you'll travel on over to FOHA to meet me, a lover of a Lurcher named Shadow.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shadow, a Aldie Greyhound/Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound/Collie for sale in Aldie, or seeking a Greyhound/Collie dog from a breeder in Aldie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Aldie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Aldie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound/Collie breeders who help with Greyhound/Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Aldie paves the way for another one to be saved.
