My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

August 16, 2007, Florence was hit by a car trying to take her 3 kittens across a road to get food and suffered a head injury. She has been named Florence because she was hit on Nightingale Street. She was less than a year old at the time and Florence suffered a skull fracture near her left ear and an open skin wound on the top of her head. It took her about 6 weeks for fully recover but she is now doing terrific.

In December of 2007 Florence had her picture with Santa Claus at Lake Area Animal Hospital but still, no one was interested in adopting her. Flo was in and out of foster homes in the beginning and the stress was just too much for her so soon after her accident. She has spent the past year and a half at our vet's office, first in a cage, then in the lobby, and now with the office manager.

Flo enjoys watching the outside world through a window and sleeping in her kitty beds on the furniture. Florence has her moments of playful interaction and then just wants a place to rest and relax. She doesn't care for other cats but is not aggressive, jut hisses and growls. Flo does fine with dogs. She will even sleep next to the vet's 2 cat friendly English Springer Spaniels when they are there. She loves the laser pointer and loves to play with the fishing pole type toys with feathers on the end. She hides behind boxes and then jumps out to surprise you. Flo is very good with her litter box and has not had any accidents. She eats dry Science diet brand food and a little canned food as a treat once a day. Flo is still a petite girl weighing only about 7-8 lbs. She is a very fun girl and really seeks out attention and love now. She likes to rub on your legs and she really likes to be pet. Flo gets lonely on the weekends when the clinic is closed and she has no one for company.

We would really like to find her a permanent home where she can live happily every after. Flo doesn't like restraint so she is not happy when we have to give her shots or trim her nails, but otherwise she is a happy and fun girl. Please e-mail us at spcagainesville@hotmail.com if you are interested in meeting or adopting Flo. All of our cats and kittens have been leukemia tested, vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and are treated with advantage multi for heartworms, fleas, and ear mites monthly. Our adoption fee is $100 per cat or kitten to help cover some of the medical and basic care costs.
