Daisy's Story...
"DAISY" – is an 11 year old purebred Border Collie. She has been well cared for by the same family her whole life, but was relinqished because her owner died, and his wife has moved into senior housing. Daisy is active, friendly and very sweet. Although she seems to really enjoy the company of children, she needs to be in a quiet, adult only home--she would be great with visiting grandkids though, and would be an excellent choice for an active retired person or couple and would do well with another older dog. Because of her age, we've had a complete veterinary examination and bloodwork done, and Daisy is in good health except for some age-related health problems, like arthritis, for which she is currently on Rimadyl. Daisy is being fostered in Maine.

You MUST first fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. As this process can take time, we recommend that you complete these first 2 steps BEFORE inquiring about a specific dog.

For more information on Daisy, or other dogs we have available for adoption, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daisy, a Stephentown Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Stephentown, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Stephentown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Stephentown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Stephentown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Stephentown paves the way for another one to be saved.
