My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bryce's foster mom tells us, "Bryce is approximately a year and 3 months old and our guess is that he is a Chesapeake Bay retriever/Chocolate Lab/Irish setter mix or something similar. He LOVES the water and is the colors of an Irish setter. He almost glows in the sun. Bryce is about 40 pounds and around 24" tall, so he is a great size for almost anyone. Bryce is a very active dog and would do well with someone who likes to hike and is somehow involved in water sports that Bryce can be involved in. It's almost impossible to keep him out of our frog pond and will even play in his water bucket putting a toy in the water, retrieving it and putting it back in. This sometimes involves him pawing at the water and turning over the bucket, so beware! Bryce came to us extremely shy and has made great progress. He was most shy of men and is still getting used to the man in our house, though he did fine with our male vet, even taking two milkbones from him with almost no shyness. He is very food motivated and would do great in obedience. He really focuses in on your face and is really willing to work for you. Bryce would do well in a house with one or two other dogs. He currently lives with 8 other dogs and also other foster dogs. He gets along really well with all dogs. Bryce just needs someone who will provide him with a lot of activities and to be patient with him in order for him to finish learning to trust people. With some more confidence, Bryce will be a great companion for a very active person. Bryce deserves his own home and family and will provide someone with years of companionship and joy.

*All our pets are at partner shelters in the south unless marked "In Maine" or "In New England". We can only bring as many dogs north as we have foster homes. If you're not in the market to adopt a dog, perhaps you can help out by fostering them short-term, getting them ready for their forever home.
