Panda's Story...
People come from all around to see the beautiful and rare pandas here in Washington, and I sure hope someone special comes out to meet me, a sweet boy named Panda. I’m a small boy who’s likely a Sheltie and Spaniel (perhaps Cavalier Spaniel) mix. I have to admit that I’m a rather shy guy right now, but I’m making progress all the time here at FOHA. I haven’t had a lot of experience with people, and before I came here, I had no experience with that thing called a “leash.” In fact, I still find it rather frightening. The volunteers have to be pretty sneaky to get it on me, and then I try and try to get it off. They’re sure I’ll get the hang of this walking on a leash thing, but I sure hope you’ll be patient. While I haven’t had a lot of experience, either, with affectionate people, I'm slowing showing the volunteers that I do like to be loved. If they sit with me in my run, I’ll come up to say hi or take a treat. If you give me pets to my muzzle, I’ll gently kiss your fingers. I lay by you and might even put my paw right on you. I’ve almost gotten to the point where I will roll over for a belly rub.
