Diamond's Story...
Comments from our kennel staff: "Diamond has strikingly beautiful markings, and gets comments on it everywhere he goes. He's a very large guy with a sweet demeanor. He rides well in a car, listens well, responds well, and is an overall kind, friendly gentleman. He doesn't seem like a "new retiree" from the track at all-he's made a very quick and smooth adjustment to his new routine. Sort of wise beyond his years. He's outgoing and playful, and gets along very well with the other greys here at the kennel. He's just an overall really good fella!" ***UPDATE 7-31-09*** Comments from the Foster Home: "Diamond is an affectionate boy, gives kisses, loves stuffies and squeaky toys, lives wonderfully with multiple cats, is very alert, and really turns on his personality when he gets to know you. He's a large hound, so for that reason, we think he'd do fantastic with older (12+) children. He also loves to snuggle, and to get belly rubs. He's a super sweet and entertaining hound."

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Diamond, a St Petersburg Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in St Petersburg, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in St Petersburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St Petersburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St Petersburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St Petersburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
