My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Millie is with the Humane Society in Franklin County and if you are interested in her please email sonshinechristian@juno.com

Update: MIllie had to have one of her eyes removed. She is doing very well and it is all healed up. She is still cute as can be and gets around well once she learns her environment.

Millie is 5-6 years old, blind, and was found as a stray. She is small at about 25lbs. She is quick to learn her surroundings and has a great nose that helps her navigate, so she gets around quite well. She likes other dogs and takes long walks (1-2 miles) on a leash with her foster pack, trotting all the way with her short legs, even when other taller dogs are walking. She likes lying next to other dogs but is OK alone too. She enjoys being petted and getting dog treats--she will sit up, jump, or "sit" for a treat, some of it on command. Her forever family will have to safeguard her environment to keep her from wandering and should "show" her new obstacles (I use sound) like moved furniture or something you set down in her path or the wheelbarrow left in the yard or she'll run into it, but she hasn't hurt herself and adjusts quickly. She's sweet and friendly without a mean bone in her body. Her only fault is being SOOO grateful when you come home or pet her, like she's saying "This is the best day of my life!"

The adoption donation is $125.00 which helps cover some of the care and veterinary services provided, including spay for females, neuter for males, vaccinations, de-worming and heartworm testing when age appropriate.

The adoption process begins with an application, which is a tool the Franklin County Humane Society uses to make a good forever home match. PLEASE-- NO PHONE CALLS -- YOUR CALL CANNOT BE RETURNED. **EMAIL ONLY TO: sonshinechristian@juno.com and we'll send you an application and/or answer any questions you might have.
