Hello! My name is Petey and I was found as a stray. I use to sleep under a city bus in a lot and a good Samaritan worked on me for weeks. I was a little weary because in the past some humans weren’t so nice to me but this person was very kind and rescued me. I then came to Bobbi and the Strays in Aug of ’08 I have a tough exterior but once you get to know me I am described as "sweet", "loyal", "a comedian", "a baby" and did I mention "King"? I have a true terrier personally (a little stubborn), so I need to have an experienced owner with no small children. I love to run in the yard and play with toys. I am good with most other dogs. My best friend at the shelter is a 70 lb pit bull named Bentley. I love car rides and don’t mind getting a bath. (which the staff has to give me more than they like because I roll around in the grass and dirt yard a lot. ha ha :). I come with free training from one of the trainers at the shelter to help me and my new family get properly acquainted and to make sure we are set up for a happy life together. He is at our Freeport location or email email@example.com
Bobbi and the Strays is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt animal welfare organization, and a no-kill agency.
We rescue stray dogs and cats from harmful situations ranging from abuse and neglect to imminent euthanasia. All animals are examined and treated by a veterinarian and updated with vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and will undergo healthcare or rehabilitation as necessary. We then find permanent, loving homes for these animals who may never have known kindness. We also provide educational programs to schools and the community, educating children and adults on responsible pet ownership. We also have Spay-Neuter/Release programs, organizing monthly spay/neuter services around the community with the ASPCA van.
We have dedicated volunteers who help rescue, foster, and care for the animals, as well as helping out at adoption days.
Donations are always needed to continue our work, and we rely on the support of those who share our vision of a world where animals are treated humanely, given loving homes, and where organizations such as ours are a thing of the past. We believe in our dream.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our adoption events are held in various locations throughout NYC and Long Island. We are also part of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and participate in their Adoption Days held throughout the year. Check our website or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Adoption Process...
We require all potential adopters to complete an adoption form. We will make arrangements to meet with you, inspect the home where the animal will live, and, once approved, you'll be able to take home your new family member. Fees will be discussed with potential adopters.
We also require that adopters keep us updated on the well being of their pets and, if for any reason they are no longer able to keep the animal, they MUST call us to return the animal to us. We will pick up if necessary.
