My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Misty. I came into the shelter with my friend, Peanut, when our owner surrendered us. I don’t know why our people didn’t want us anymore. Peanut is a handsome young Shih tzu who would make any young girl’s heart go pitter patter. And I am an elegant young lady with a lovely, long coat, a gentle disposition, and warm, brown eyes. But here, I’m cold, I’m wet, and I’m dirty. We didn’t deserve to be abandoned like this. I need a warm bath, a good meal, and a comfortable bed to snuggle up in. Could you come save me so I can be loved and cherished the way I’m supposed to be?

We believe Misty is only a couple of years old. She weighs maybe 30 pounds. She is a sweet little girl who doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing at a shelter. She is a little shy of new people, but she was not afraid. She is also leash trained.

The animals at the shelter have five days to find a home. The Humane Society of Cherokee County, Inc., is the rescue and adoption agent for this shelter. We are trying to save as many animals as possible from this shelter by adoption. The $75 adoption fee includes all rabies, DHPP and bordatella vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and heartworm test.

For a quick response and/or adoption appointment, email us at cherokeeshelter@gmail.com. The Cherokee County shelter is located in Gaffney, SC just a few minutes off I-85 and only about 20 miles northeast of Spartanburg, SC and about 50 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC.

We are very rescue-friendly and will work with reputable rescuers to get these animals to safety. Thank you for helping us to save the life of a homeless, unwanted, and soon to be killed, shelter animal!
