My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This fluffy white confection of a girl is in need of a loving home where she can spend the rest of her life. Amber was born on 11/23/06, at what we suspect was either a puppy mill or a backyard breeder's facility, because she was originally purchased (like merchandise) from a pet store. She spent over 2 years with a family she trusted and loved, until the day they brought home a new German Shepherd puppy. A classic case of "out with the 'old', in with the new", Amber was discarded like yesterday's newspaper. She had done nothing wrong. She just wasn't "new" any longer. Amber and (we think) her litter-mate, Rex, came to Tassie's Hope through a 3rd party (who happened to be in the right place at the right time) and are settling in at their foster home. Amber's foster mom is a trainer. She is working with Amber on socialization and the basics. She is looking for a dog-savvy adopter who is experienced with this breed and who will continue working with Amber. Amber is a little shy at first, but warms up to most people, given a little time. We suspect she was little more than a "lawn ornament" in her former home. She would do best in a cat-free forever home, and a home without young children. School-age kids and older would probably be fine. Our $175 adoption fee helps offset the cost of Amber's vet visit. Amber is spayed, current on shots, dewormed, micro-chipped, heartworm-negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. She is in excellent health. After having one family betray her trust, Amber deserves a new mom and/or dad who will make a lifetime commitment to her. Adopters must have a verifiable history with a vet. A home visit will be required prior to adoption. If you would like to make Amber a permanent member of your family, we invite you to submit an adoption application today:
