Meg's Story...
Meg knows a little something about being in the right place at the right time. In mid-February, Meg was a pup without a home, without shelter or food, and really, without any hope. That is, until she was spotted by a Tassie's Hope foster mom. We're all about giving sweet dogs like Meg plenty to be hopeful about. Our volunteer spotted Meg, looking very lost and out of place. As she approached, Meg ran up to her, tail wagging enthusiastically, as if to say "please take me home!" And that is exactly what happened. Minutes later, Meg was safe and secure in a foster home. We tried in vain to locate Meg's former owners, but suspected all along, like so many other dogs just like her, she had been dumped. Well, the loss is definitely theirs, because someone gave up a gem of a dog.

Meg is a sweetie - ready to make friends with everyone. She is primarily people-oriented, but once she makes friends with new dogs and feels comfortable around them, she enjoys joining in on the play-time. Meg would make someone a great lap dog and companion. She loves to be wherever her person is and she loves to sleep in her foster mom's bed (snuggled under the covers for warmth). Meg does beautifully on car rides. She is also crate-trained and seems to be house-trained. This pint-sized cutie weighs only 7 lbs. and is about 5-ish years of age.

Meg checked out in excellent health at the vet, had her teeth cleaned, and has been spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped and heartworm tested negative. Meg is now on monthly heartworm prevention. Our $175 adoption fee helps offset the cost of Meg's veterinary care.

After her stint as a homeless girl (something no dog should ever experience), we want to make sure that Meg's next home is her forever home, and one where she will receive a lot of love. Because she is tiny (and easy for a very young child to step on or trip over), we'd like to find Meg a home with school-aged children or older. Applicants for Meg must have a verifiable history with a vet. If Meg sounds like the perfect canine best friend for you, we invite you to submit an adoption application form today:

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Meg, a Carrollton Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Carrollton, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Carrollton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Carrollton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Carrollton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Carrollton paves the way for another one to be saved.
