Ray's Story...
Ray was abandoned in Fort Lee family housing then ran out of time in the full shelter. However, he had been in the shelter a long time, so now he's SO HAPPY to be running around free! He is pretty much an alpha male and doesn't back down when faced with aggression from another cat. He LOVES playing with toys and will grab toys out of your hand non-stop till he has a mountain of toys in front of him, just watch out for those sharp claws! He loves people but is still kind of "wired" from being caged so long and is still in a run-run-rumble phase. He was actually picked up with George, so we thought they could be brothers, but Ray beats George up so badly and squalls at him so loud that if they're brothers, they're best separated!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ray, a Chesapeake Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chesapeake, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chesapeake.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chesapeake already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chesapeake breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chesapeake paves the way for another one to be saved.
