My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A LONG JOURNEY INTO THE NIGHT AND BACK

We received an email regarding a beautiful four year old female boxer we have named Ismir. She previously belonged to a breeder and was a former show dog. She had two litters but sadly only three pups in total survived; so the breeder decided to place her in a home.

Ismir was adopted from the breeder by an older couple who obviously loved her very much. Unfortunately, the husband died in November 08 and the wife lost her home. She had to move to elderly housing where there were no dogs allowed.

She placed Ismir with a friend in December 08, who is a breeder, and the friend decided she could no longer care for Ismir. We were told, if we did not want her she would place an ad in the local paper giving her away for free. We could not let that happen.

We quickly made arrangements to pick up IsmIr before the woman could change her mind…..and so the long journey began. Due to the unexpected side trip to pick up Sadie at the shelter, we did not arrive to meet Ismir until very late in the evening.

We discovered that Ismir is more stunning than her pictures and her disposition is extraordinary. She greeted us happily and jumped right into the car. Ismir accepted meeting Sadie with no problems and smothered us with kisses.

She is great on a leash; always greeting everyone she sees with her little nub wagging a mile a minute. She rides well in the car, and when we began the long ride home, she promptly fell asleep in the backseat.

Ismir is an absolutely fantastic dog and is a true gem. The only negative about Ismir is that she apparently does not care for cats. She has an appointment with the vet later this week to get an exam and to update her inoculations etc. She will be available for adoption as soon as we get a "thumbs up" from the doctor.
