My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 04-20-09: Ritzy is an adorable 6 y/o 3.8# tiny yorkie boy who is being fostered in The Villages, FL.

Ritzy here - well, I had that B-I-G surgery on 04-14-09 and had ta feel a little bit better before I told ya'll all about it......man-oh-man, I hope I nebber ebber hafta go thru that agin - it was RRRR-UUUUU-FFFFFFFFFFF fer shure. It was bad enuff that they shaved my cute little rear end, but then they hadta cut boff my knees open - ouchie-ouchie-ouchie!!! The nice sweet lady doktor was real gentle though and made some nice stitches when she sewed 'em up. Foster Mom keeps tellin' me that I'm gonna feel better when it's all over, but when the heck is that gonna be?! I'm crippling around a little bit better each day and she's taking really good care of me - I really like that cuz I've never had nobody be so nice to me before. But what the heck is comin' next? First I got 17 toofers yanked outta my mouth when I first got here. And when I woke up from that, there was something else missin' cuz I got nootered - don't get me started on that! Just when I felt better from that, then I had ta go and get a buncha shots - but FM called them vaccinations cuz she thought that sounded better. Hmmpphh!! Now, I just started feelin' better from that, then I got my butt shaved and my knees cracked open - when will this craziness stop?? Foster Mom & Dad keep tellin' me that I needed a lotta fixin' up when I got here cuz the peoples that had me before didn't take good care of me. But whoa-doggies, I think I may have struck the doggie lottery here cuz I get all the food and water and chew-toys and lots of luvin' I want - well, kinda.....I'm always hungry and eat real fast-like cuz I don't know when I might get fed again - see, in my other house I didn't get fed regularly so I gotta eat it when I see it! Shoot! FM wants ta say something so I'll check out for now. Oh...she did tell me to ask ya'll if you had a dollar or two to spare, please send it my way since all this cuttin' and pullin' and shootin' and stitchin' costed a whole lotta money......and I wanna thank ya'll from the bottom of my itty bitty heart......Ritzy out!

Ritzy's Foster Mom here: This little guy may be tiny in size but he is a big-time trooper in my book - which is why he survived so long under horrible conditions at his previous place which was most likely a backyard breeder.......sigh........He has a courageous spirit and is feeling so much better - every day he walks a little better, although he is still lifting the one leg that was worse than the other. The vet feels that he will soon begin putting more weight on it. He still has a long recovery ahead - 8-10 more weeks of 'house rest' and leash-walks only to go outside and potty - it's a miracle, but this little fella is totally housetrained! Thanks for all the many prayers that were said for Ritzy - and thank you in advance for any donation you can make for his B-I-G surgery.

INITIAL BIO 03-17-09: Ritzy is an adorable 6 y/o 3.8# tiny yorkie boy who is being fostered in The Villages, FL. He was found walking in the middle of the street in a suburban neighborhood. After a week of posting signs and newspaper ads, no one came forward to claim him. It is obvious that Ritzy had been neglected for a long time as his teeth were rotten and painful, his nails were very long and it appeared he had never been socialized since he was very timid with human contact. He will crouch down when approached as if someone has hit him in the past. So sad! Ritzy has been neutered and lost 19 teeth when he had his dental - ouch! He only has 7 teeth left, but that certainly doesn't deter his healthy appetite! He is learning how to be a loving companion in his foster home - he seems to get along with the other dogs, but he would do best if placed in a home where he was the only dog, or perhaps there was only one other dog close to his age and size. Ritzy has been diagnosed with Grade IV (out of IV) bilateral luxating patellas and has a hard time walking and at times will fall down in the back - but he's a real little trooper and always gets back up! He needs to have surgery on both of his knees which will be expensive, so we are hopeful that we can raise the funds to get this little boy out of his pain - it doesn't appear he has had a happy life up until now.........PLEASE NOTE! Because of his very small size, Ritzy cannot go into a home with children or teenagers - an adult only home, please!
