My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ave you ever heard the old expression, "Make your first impression count, because you never have a second chance to make a first impression."? Well, Jonas took this advice to heart and it saved this little guy's life! The day Jonas was rescued from the euthanasia list, our pound rescuers almost passed this boy by. However, when he began standing on his hind legs, eagerly trying to headbutt them to encourage petting and interaction (purring all the while), Jonas' first impression worked wonders. They scooped him up and off he went to safety - his endearing first impression led to a second chance at life!

Some might accuse Jonas of acting in this manner as part of a larger strategy to escape the pound's euthanasia list. Maybe it was part of his strategy, however one thing is certain - it was no act. Jonas is as loveable, personable, and affectionate as the day he caught our pound rescuers attention! Everything about this boy says, "Please love me". Scoop him up in your arms and he burrows and nuzzles as close as he can to your neck and face. Sit down and he'll crawl all over your lap and make himself right at home. You can even flip him on his back and rub his tummy! Kneel down to give him chin scratches and he'll lean into your hand and end up flopping over on the floor to give you free access to scratching not only his chin, but his head, his cheeks, his ears....you get the idea. Stop petting him so you can stand back up and Jonas will stand on his hind legs and enthusiastically headbutt you as if to say, "surely you're not done petting and loving me yet?"

Jonas is snuggly and loveable, but is also a clown and charmer too. Jonas loves playing with toys. He is happy to chase anything you toss across the floor at full speed, be it toy mice, balls, or whatever! Jonas also finds the mouse track circle loads of fun once he figured out he could make the mouse go zooming around and around in circles by sticking his paw in the track's openings. He's a very helpful little fellow when it comes to chores...he decided the best way to assist a volunteer that was cleaning out his litter box was by hopping on her back and sitting on her head! Jonas is even funny, in a pitiful way, when he's sick - when we first rescued him, Jonas came down with a kitty cold and became very congested. When he meowed, it sounded like a cross between a congested snort and a hiss! Not only is Jonas considerate with people but he is also very amiable with the kitty companions he was rescued with.

Jonas loves attention and affection, but you know what? The volunteers who have met Jonas love getting it from him too! It didn't take long for volunteers to be taken by Jonas' charm and fall in love with this sweet little boy. Why not see what type of a first impression Jonas makes on you?
