Calli's Story...
Barn Name: Calli

Breed: Arab X
Height: approx 14hh (will measure)
Age: approx 13 y/o
Gender: Mare
Colour: Chestnut

Health: Appears to have allergies to ragweed in the fall (cough, runny nose, puffy/itchy eyes), Previous owner said she does well on ZEV. Healthy Otherwise
Lameness: None - although she did have an old crack in her front right hoof that was repaired, it went right up to her coronet band and she also has an old scar on her hind right leg that causes her to be a little bit stiff in the winter but not lame)

Vices: None Known
Personality: Friendly. Easy to Catch, Lead, Groom, Tie, Trim, Trailer, etc. Good with other horses, ponies and donkeys! Low end of pecking order.

History/Training: Her previous owners originally bought her from a place where she was used as a Camp/Lesson/Trail Pony, she was in rough shape. they brought her home and gave her lots of TLC (that was 4 years ago). Their daughter (now 11) has enjoyed riding her over the past few years, doing ringwork, jumping and trails. She is quick at the canter and can spook easily so not suitable for a beginner. she needs someone to remind her to lower her head when she leads off for a canter. Calli has a very soft mouth and sides and so we have only ever used a snaffle, and soft legs, she moves off your leg extremely well. UPDATE: Calli does not like to be handled or ridden alone, she must be ridden in the company of her pasture mates. She prefers a short & lightweight rider.

Future/Suitability: Light Pleasure Riding, Trails, Companion, Pet

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: Instead of posting an adoption fee for Calli we are willing to consider an offer, donation or a trade for ??? - Calli is wonderful and deserves a loving permanent knowledgable home so we are hoping this will help her find one as we do understand that extra cash is hard to come by these days!!

WE CAN'T HELP MORE HORSES UNTIL WE FIND HOMES FOR THE ONES THAT ARE HERE - SO IF YOU HAVE AN EXTRA SPACE, EXTRA FEED AND LOTS OF LOVE PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING CALLI. WE ARE HOPING HER REDUCED ADOPTION FEE WILL HELP HER FIND A NEW HOME!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Calli, a Cameron Arabian was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Arabian for sale in Cameron, or seeking a Arabian from a breeder in Cameron.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cameron already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cameron breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Arabian breeders who help with Arabian rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cameron paves the way for another one to be saved.
