Whippet male's Story...
This handsome boy was an owner surrender. As you can see from his picture, he is a medium sized boy(about 40 pounds) with a beautiful brindle coat and approx 1 year old. He will need a home where he can run as he is a whippet and an active dog-if he can not get his exercise, he may become bored and destructive. He will also need a fenced yard. His foster parents describe him as a loving, sweet natured boy. He gets along well with other dogs and would do fine with children too-although he does like to jump so older children are recommended-we are working on the jumping issue while he is in our care. Most likely, he would not do well with cats as this breed is a type of scent hound and it is in their nature to hunt. Your resident house cats may be spared if viewed as part of the pack but we can not guarantee this-he has not had any interactions with cats while with us so we do not have any first hand knowledge of his cat interactions. To play it safe, we would recommend a home without any cats. He is crate trained and is working on leash training as well. He will be neutered and brought current on all of his vetting prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $200 to help cover his vet expenses. If interested in adopting this handsome boy into your family, please send us an e-mail expressing your interest as well as your adoption application. For those of you who are unfamiliar with a whippet, they are similar to a greyhound only smaller. Many of the care requirements are the same.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Whippet male, a Chiefland Whippet dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Whippet for sale in Chiefland, or seeking a Whippet dog from a breeder in Chiefland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chiefland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chiefland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Whippet breeders who help with Whippet rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chiefland paves the way for another one to be saved.
