Poppy's Story...
Poppy, is an older (10-12 year old) maltese mix male. He was pulled from the shelter from a dedicated animal lover who did not want him to die there. He has a lot more life in him! He has some old fractures along with arthritis so he walks very unsteadily, but his attitude is just fine. He is house trained and wants someone with him at all times. He is OK with other dogs, but does resource guard. He has quite a growl, but I think that he uses it as his main defense, as he only has a couple of teeth. He deserves to live his remaining years in a loving home. If you are interested in adopting Poppy please call 619/661-6444. See our schedule of Saturday adoption sites on our home page.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Poppy, a Spring Valley Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Spring Valley, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Spring Valley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Spring Valley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Spring Valley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Spring Valley paves the way for another one to be saved.
