My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi. Winston here. Me and my brother, Bentley, have decided it’s time to see the world. Now you gotta understand: our two-legged mom and dad are the greatest, and we love them. But they’re a sedentary pair. (That means they don’t move around a lot. Or fast.) And they’re going to be even more sedentary-ish in the future ‘cause of health reasons. But us? Me and Bentley are both agile, loveable young gents in our early 20’s. (That’s 4 in dog years.) And we’re healthy as anything!

We’re both real affectionate. And although we love to be outdoors, indoors is okay, too. We’re both house-broke. And really smart – smart enough to figure out where our boundaries are, even though mom and dad have one of those tricky fences that nobody can see but us dogs.

We been to obedience school, too. And it wasn’t easy, let me tell you. Training that dopey guy to realize he better be holding food or he wasn’t getting any response at all from us took practically forever! (Before you wonder about it, I gotta assure you that we do know “NO!” well enough, and “SIT!” and “COME” sometimes. But a dog’s gotta know where to put his paw down, or there’s no end to it.)

There’s one thing you should definitely know about Bentley. (In the pictures, he’s the one with the long neck, like a giraffe. I think he looks silly, but I never make fun of him to his face.) Anyhow, Bentley’s very, very shy till he gets to know you. I mean, REALLY shy!

People think I’m shy, too, but they’re plain wrong. I’m not shy. I’m just extra reserved.

Oh, and another thing you should know; neither of us like noises much – that is, until we get used to them. That’s ‘cause our house here is really quiet. How quiet you ask? Well, monks would love it. We love it, too, but we still want to see the world. So if anybody you know wants to have a couple of gentle gents around, just have them get in touch with me, Winston. Or with my brother, Bentley.

Our noses may be cold as Vermont in January, but our hearts are big as all outdoors!
