My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Such a wise gentle soul, with a very tender heart. That’s our laidback friend, “Shadow” (d.o.b. 7/1/1997). His eyes are beautiful and mesmerizing, yet behind those eyes are memories of living many moments of this life on his own. Shadow had been abandoned, resorting to wandering stray for quite a long time, with no true place to call “home.” He learned how to wander off to search for food and shelter, but honestly all he has ever wanted is a committed loving family to care for him & make him part of their home forever. With your help, his dream might finally come true!

Shadow is a very sweet yet shy gentleman with such a loving affectionate personality. He's calm, well-mannered, takes treats gently, and sits nicely for petting. Shadow's not much into toys; he'd rather enjoy your company instead. At first meeting, he might seem shy or nervous, but after he has time to get to know you & fully trust you, he comes right out of his shell. He will lean right into your leg, sitting by your side for as long as you will continue to pet him….. it will truly melt your heart when you see how much he appreciates the tender-loving touch of people he trusts. Shadow also enjoys the soft relaxing feel of you brushing him, which is good, because a dog with a beautiful coat like his needs to be brushed regularly. Shadow loves going for long walks, exploring outdoors in his big fenced yard, and relaxing on his comfy bed. With his tendency to curiously wander or follow after interesting critters like squirrels, Shadow needs a home with a physical fenced yard to keep him safe.

Being a very calm, mature adult dog, Shadow would prefer a quiet Adult-only home with a laidback lifestyle, and without any children around to bother him and make him uncomfortable. Shadow might be nervous of loud noises, fast movements, and unsure of new people trying to touch him too quickly, so he prefers a home without a lot of strange visitors overwhelming him all the time. He looks forward to joining his family on daily walks for exercise, and hopes they don’t mind it if he occasionally ‘talks’ or barks to tell them when he needs something. He used to bark when he was hungry and homeless, but now he gets meals consistently every day, so he’s very happy about that!! A home without Cats is great for Shadow, and since he’s unsure about other dogs right now (he likes his own space), he’s happy to be your ‘only pet’ at home to soak up all your love & attention. He’s very smart, and catches on quickly to positive guidance (especially with treat rewards!). He seems to be housetrained here, but a refresher course in the new home is always helpful while he adjusts to the surroundings. Shadow truly is a great boy, with an amazingly sweet sensitive side that will warm your heart. He’s still very healthy, and ready to develop deep meaningful bonds with caring people like you. Shadow promises to be one of the most loyal companions around. Won’t you give this deserving boy a chance? Please fill out the adoption survey today at www.mackenzies.info
