Hansel's Story...
Meet Hansel, he came into the shelter with his sister, Grettal. These two puppies are sweet and well socialized, happy, playful and loving. How they came to be at the shelter is a mystery to me.

Hansel is almost completely black with just a wisp of white on his chest and chin. He is the more rambunctious of the two pups. He would do well with an active family and probably be fine children of any age. He will most likely be a medium sized dog when fully grown. The sooner Hansel can get out of this shelter and on with his new life, the better adult dog he will be.

Please don’t let this baby boy die in a rural southern shelter just because he is a black dog of uncertain parentage. This baby needs your help NOW!

The animals at the shelter have five days to find a home. The Humane Society of Cherokee County, Inc., is the rescue and adoption agent for this shelter. We are trying to save as many animals as possible from this shelter by adoption. The $75 adoption fee includes all rabies, DHPP and bordatella vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and heartworm test.

For a quick response and/or adoption appointment, email us at The Cherokee County shelter is located in Gaffney, SC just a few minutes off I-85 and only about 20 miles northeast of Spartanburg, SC and about 50 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC.

We are very rescue-friendly and will work with reputable rescuers to get these animals to safety. Thank you for helping us to save the life of a homeless, unwanted, and soon to be killed, shelter animal!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hansel, a Inman Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Inman, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Inman.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Inman already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Inman breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Inman paves the way for another one to be saved.
