My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Adam. At first we weren’t so sure this little guy wanted to be rescued or adopted. When you looked at him through his kennel bars, he would growl and shrink back, BUT when you reached in to take him out, he was so relieved that your intentions were good and not evil!

Adam is a really sweet little guy, he’s just scared here. He looks to be mostly Dachshund and has just barely outgrown being a puppy. He is both loving and playful but definitely not hyper. Adam’s lovely brindle coat is so soft and slick and very pettable. We believe he weighs about 13 pounds (soaking wet with a bone in his mouth!)

The reason we named this little guy Adam is because he is missing one of his ribs! It’s not broken, it’s just not there! Anyway, it doesn’t hurt his appearance and won’t jeopardize his health in any way. It’s just a unique quality all that’s his own.

Please come and rescue this adorable boy from jail. His sentence is death and his time is almost up…..

The animals at the shelter have five days to find a home. The Humane Society of Cherokee County, Inc., is the rescue and adoption agent for this shelter. We are trying to save as many animals as possible from this shelter by adoption. The $75 adoption fee includes all rabies, DHPP and bordatella vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and heartworm test.

For a quick response and/or adoption appointment, email us at cherokeeshelter@gmail.com. The Cherokee County shelter is located in Gaffney, SC just a few minutes off I-85 and only about 20 miles northeast of Spartanburg, SC and about 50 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC.

We are very rescue-friendly and will work with reputable rescuers to get these animals to safety. Thank you for helping us to save the life of a homeless, unwanted, and soon to be killed, shelter animal!
