Sharena's Story...
Sharena was a victim of the current economy. She and her sister were adopted together in July 09 but were returned in November 09 due to her new owner loosing his job and having to move. Her sister has found her new home and now, it is Sharena's turn. Sharena is a lovey girl who just wants to be loved. She was born in April 2007and has developed into a beautiful kitty. She is loving and sweet and very playful. She is a wary of new situations until she settles in but she is a quick learner. She has a mild chronic condition that causes her right eye to be runny most of the time. It is really no big deal--just needs to wiped out once every day or two. She plays with the other foster cats quite nicely and really enjoys being petted. When she feels intimidated by another cat, she is quite vocal--making sure they understand not to bother her but she quickly gets over that! She should do well in a home with other cats and would adjust to good kids and a cat-friendly dog. Are you the one for her??

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Action for Animals, Inc. is an all volunteer, non profit organization that was incorporated in 1980. We assist the stray cats and dogs of Delaware County, Indiana. We provide medical treatment, spaying and neutering, foster care and ultimately, placement in forever homes for these strays. We also micro chip all of our adoptees prior to adoption. We want to help keep all of them safe! We have chosen the stray population to concentrate our efforts because they have no one to help them find a new home--they have been left to fend for themselves and we need to help them.

We are always in need of donations to support our programs. Any monetary donations are completely tax deductible and even just a few dollars helps us a lot! We receive no city, county, state or federal monies to support our programs. In addition to our adoption program, we maintain a feral cat alteration program and a spay/neuter assistance program for anyone who needs help having their own pet altered.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We always have cats and kittens showcased at the Muncie PetSmart. You can go there during any of the stores' regular hours to meet your potential new pet. If you don't see one there or on this site that interests you, please contact us. There are likely others in our program that we have not gotten posted yet. Please, no phone calls after 10pm.
Our Adoption Process...
We do have an application that needs to be filled out and processed. If you have other pets, your vet will be contacted to verify that your pets are kept up to date on vaccinations and are well taken care of. If you rent your home or apartment, your landlord will be contacted to verify that you are allowed to have indoor pets. We also ask for, and contact, two personal references. We ask for a minimum donation of $65.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
The city of Muncie and other surrounding towns and cities in Delaware County, Indiana for the animals that we accept into our program.

We are more than happy to adopt our pets to anyone, regardless of where they live and can help arrange meeting places if the adopter lives outside of the local area. However, in most cases, we would not ship or fly our pets to a new home.
