My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION

THIS IS MIDGET....a petite, 6.8 lbs, black and tan, 6 yr old Yorkshire Terrier. Midgey, as we call her, was adopted from the shelter and returned because she had hardened "eye boogies!!" Good thing, as she is not a "child's" dog. Her hair was so matted to her face, when the shelter removed it, it left a terrible sore, which is being treated and quickly healing. We're not sure what happened in this little girl's life, but there is no question she's been traumatized. She is terrified of people at times...she definitely picks and chooses her friends. She's shown no aggression with me (female) but she is slow to get to know you. She seems frightened of men and does get nippy at strangers. In time, she calms down...but she needs a patient home that will give her time to know and trust you. She follows me everywhere in my house and even has started asking for attention. Sits on my lap while I'm working! Kisses my toes! She has to be convinced that she is worth loving...and she totally is! How many dogs do you now who are afraid of belly rubs? But once Midgey got a sample of a belly rub....she was in nirvana! She gives gentle little kisses to say, "I think I like you but I'm not sure yet!" She LOVES to go for walks and springs up when she sees the leash. Seems to be potty trained, but no promises!! She is also quite willful when you are walking and she wants to keep going!! No question she has a dominant streak, esp when she perches on the top of the couch!!! She is protective and will bark at strangers...but is not yappy or a whiner. She would be fine as an only dog...in fact, a single woman who would be ideal...but not left alone all day. She would be OK for a few of hours and that would be great so that she would appreciate you when you come home! With time and love, this little midget will be your gigantic best friend. A mature home, without kids would be best.
