My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTED!
Buddy was surrendered to a NYC animal shelter because his owner said they had "no time" for him. Poor Buddy had been seriously neglect and was in bad shape! Now that he is in our care, Buddy he has gained weight and is doing great. He is a sweet, gentle, and friendly Beagle boy that enjoys attention and is very affectionate.

Buddy is a middle-aged Beagle, about 7 years young. He is already neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and housetrained. He is a calm, well-behaved and gentle Beagle that enjoys snoozing on the couch in his foster home. He is a polite gentleman on a leash and is social with everyone he meets. We just can't figure out why such a great dog suddenly found himself in a shelter facing an uncertain future. Fortunately for Buddy, the future is looking much brighter now.

Buddy likes to be around people and prefers not to be left alone a lot. We have been working to help him become more self confident and comfortable being alone, and he has made great progress. The ideal home for Buddy would be where someone is home part of the day or perhaps would be able to take him along if they needed to go out. He likes to go for rides and is very well-behaved in the car.

Buddy gets along with other quiet dogs that mind their manners (and their own business), but doesn't appreciate very vocal or active dogs that want to get in his face and/or try to get him to play. He would actually be perfectly content to be any only dog.

Buddy is just one of the many wonderful dogs available for adoption through our Rescue. Like every dog, he deserves a loving, forever home where he will always be safe, well fed, and know what it feels like to be loved. Buddy is looking for a slower-paced, quiet home to retire to and in return he promises to be a wonderful, loyal companion.

IMPORTANT: Safe Hounds Beagle Rescue does not operate a shelter where the public can meet our dogs. All of our Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application and be pre-approved to adopt. Once an applicant is approved, we’ll begin a matching process—the right dog for the right home. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be approved. Please visit our web page: www.safehounds.com to learn more about the adoption process and to download our adoption application.

Unable to adopt? Please consider sponsoring a Beagle. By helping us we can continue to make a difference in the lives of these deserving dogs. We have many hungry hounds to feed and are always in need of dog food and other items from our wish list as well as financial support to help us meet the needs of the dogs in our care. PayPal is the easiest way to donate - it's, fast free, and secure!
