My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh sweet, sweet Chunkers. I rarely get to write bios for my fosters, and after having over 20 foster dogs come through my home I can say that Chunkers has been the easiest, most loving yet. Sweet Chunkers was on "the list" when CPR pulled him from a kill shelter in TN. A tad on the tubby side when he came into rescue (we assume he lived all 3-4 years of his life on a chain with little to no exercise), he's since been enjoying a life of mild activity and fun and is just a few pounds away from his goal weight of 55lbs.

Chunkers is a total dream boat whose fully house trained, free-reign approved (no crate needed for this good boy), walks incredibly well on leash, and loves to co-pilot. Even though the Chunkmeister loves some play time with his foster bros and enjoys a nice meandering walk, this guy is all about couch life in the a/c. And did I mention the snuggles? Chunkers just LOVES to be loved, and will absolutely present himself at any and every opportunity that comes up to get some good pets and lovins' in. Chunkers does great with other dogs and is a gentle guy that is awesome with all sized people, even the littles. Chunkers REALLY loves being around others, whether it's pups or people, and is a bit anxious when all by his lonesome for long periods of time, so a home with other pups or humans that don't work out of the home all day would be best for him. If you're looking for a super well behaved, low maintenance (except on the lovins'), just all around great dog, Chunkers is your man! Read on to learn more about applying to bring this very, very good boy home.

This dog will be ready to leave our care in time for CPR's Triple Event Weekend! CPR will be at the Better Beagle in Oxford on Friday August 16th from 2pm - 6pm. On Saturday August 17th CPR will be at Petsmart in Meriden from 10am - 2pm! On Sunday August 18th CPR will be at PetValu in Southbury from 10am-1pm. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event!

The adoption fee is $450 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested positive for heartworms and has been treated in our care.

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 10am-Noon. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.
